Advice, please?
Not along ago I had no idea what the little thingys were on everyone's sites which read "Atom Feed," "XML," "RSS," and "Syndicate this Site."
Yes, I had heard of news readers and all that, but had absolutely NO idea why it would or should be important to moi.
After all, "news readers" are those who actually read paper newspapers, right?!
Well, apparently not.
Last week, I downloaded a nifty little FeedDemon trial version.
So, ummmm, now I have a new little toy/addiction thingy, the news reader.
Well, I have ten days left until my trial version expires and I was wondering, before I pay money to feed this habit, what other people are using and how well they like it.
I have tried the Mozilla Fire Fox live feed bookmark/whatchama-bobber, but I have to say it does not hold a candle to the FeedDemon.
Any thoughts?

Posted by: Gir at May 18, 2005 01:29 PMGosh...good question! I've been using Firefox's live bookmarks. I'll have to get back to you. Wish I could be more help. :(
Posted by: WillyShake at May 18, 2005 02:01 PMI use Newz Crawler.
It is not free, but it has the interface that *I* prefer, which is showing the web pages within the newsreader, not calling on an external web browser.
But that is *my* preference.
Email me if you want more details.
Posted by: Jack at May 18, 2005 02:30 PMI've been using Thunderbird (Mozilla's mail client) to get my daily dose of Feistiness. (And other blogs). Then it is in the same place as your email, easy to manage, makes it a lot easier to read lots of blogs and you never miss a thing :)
Posted by: tincanman at May 19, 2005 12:01 AMHi
I use SharpReader (which I'm also commenting from now) and it works like a charm. Check it out and see - www.sharpreader.net
New 'blog home' looks great!
Hey, I like the new comment page...but the text box is still a little oversized.
Anyway, did you install Firefox? I'm so proud of you! ;-) Seriously, check out the CopyURL extension: [http://copyurlplus.mozdev.org/]. It's great for gathering link info. Let me know and I can help you get it setup. I've customized mine and it's fantastic!
As for the news feed thing, you may want to send an email to Tall Glass Of Milk [http://drinkthis.typepad.com] as she's really knowledgeable about various Firefox extensions. She's mentioned Sage [http://sage.mozdev.org/screenshots/] before but I don't know how good it is or even if it's the official TGOM recommendation. Really...send her an email and ask her. I bet she'll have some great suggestions.
