August 08, 2005
It's been fun...
but, I think the time has come to say "Good-Bye."
What I have tried to create here is a place with the comforts of home to welcome all friends, old and new, to sit down, take a load off, visit, and relax.
It's been a happy place for me to share the exploits of my children and my childhood, as well as observations of this crazy world in which we live.
It has been a welcome distraction from much pain and sorrow.
However, reality beckons and I must turn my attentions elsewhere.
To each and all, I wish you the best.
UPDATE - August 12, 2005:
Stunned, humbled, and amazed do not begin to express my reaction to the words of each and every one of you.
Thank you.
From my heart, I thank each of you.
God bless and keep you and the ones you love safe.
Posted by Christina at August 8, 2005 12:23 PMDon't tell me you are abandoning the blogosphere! *Gasp!*
Posted by: Oddybobo at August 8, 2005 12:49 PM.. what?!?!...
Posted by: Eric at August 8, 2005 12:50 PMI saw this when you first posted it, but I was in the midst of buying a good digital SLR and was not able to be the first commenter among the avalanche of "please don't go" that I anticipate to arrive here shortly.
So, what prompted this?
I've stuck it out, despite the sometimes deliberate and more often simply thoughtless idiocy I've dealt with over the past three years in Blogworld.
Reality is not what we make it, but it is indeed made up of the sum of our choices.
A subtle difference, but one worth noting.
So, what "reality" is beckoning you?
Posted by: Jack at August 8, 2005 12:58 PMNo way...I hope you change your mind, but if you don't, may I say that it has been a pleasure reading you, and I wish I had found your blog much sooner. Good luck, and much happiness. Now, tell me you're joking.
Posted by: Theresa at August 8, 2005 01:04 PMI only found your site in the past couple weeks and you seem to be a delightful person hopefully it isn't the last I hear from you.
Posted by: bob at August 8, 2005 01:22 PMNooooooooo! You can't go! You have become a dear blog~friend, and your absence would truely be like losing a friend.
Take a break for a bit if you need, but don't quit permanently. You will be greatly missed.
Posted by: Dogsdontpurr at August 8, 2005 01:29 PMI'm guessing your heart's already made up over this decision, but I really do hope this becomes a time-out and not a game-over.
You're gonna be missed by so many people so drop by from time to time and say hi. Good luck for the future and I hope all your dreams and wishes come true, you deserve it :o)
Happy trails..

Posted by: zonker at August 8, 2005 02:30 PMChristina,
Sorry to hear you're calling it quits. I have enjoyed your writings and obviously I'm not the only one.
Good luck and farewell. I'll miss you.
But if you get a chance, post an occasional update. You don't have to totally quit. Or at least stop by my blog every twice in a while and leave a note!
Posted by: Dave S. at August 8, 2005 02:42 PMDon't pull a Acidman, and come back next week. You Divas always try and start shit every week. And this is a new week, Cat

As a newbie on your blog I can't relate to a lot of your readers that have developed a bond and a friendship. I can say that your blog had been a fun read for the last month and I will be sorry to see that lost.
I can also say that the blogosphere in general has taught me that friendships are fleeting across the internet and the times shared need to be treasured. I wish you luck in all that you choose. Keep our emails and let us know if you return to share your life on these virtual pages.
Take Care
Michael
Okay....i'm about to get on an airplane and I read this...wtf??????
Posted by: sadie at August 8, 2005 03:40 PMmommy dearest,
if this is your final signing off, i will miss you deeply. i rather hope, like nugget, that this is a time-out, and not a game-over.
you helped me in more ways than i can describe, and i hope you will stop by occasionally.
good luck with everything. all my best to you and yours!

Posted by: amelie at August 8, 2005 04:18 PMChristina~
Say it isn't so!! I too hope that this turns into a hiatus rather than a series finale. I don't however believe you to be a woman of idle words. Either way, all the best to you and your girls. I have truly enjoyed reading your blog.
Hugs.
We are not amused!
Now, go have a hot bath, a cold beer and recharge. We'll wait.
Posted by: El Capitan at August 8, 2005 04:46 PM*Cough* *splutter!* Are my own eyes deciving me is the mighty Fiesty One giving up her blog.. No you can't do that even although I don't read here on a daily basis that is to say maybe random number of times a week. I can see your reasoning I thought about that when I had my DD pages (at least with those you could take the whole thing private). Honestly don't go. You've inspired quite a few fellow bloggers in here to write a blog of their very own Im sure you have. But if it true then so it must be time for me to fine the bugle and sound off "the last post" I don't wanna do that, Complete the year make it to your blogs 1st birthday please :)
Posted by: Gopher at August 8, 2005 06:03 PMIt was Nawlins, wasn't it? Damn that Zonker!
Good luck.
Posted by: Velociman at August 8, 2005 06:11 PMRelax, people, she goes nowhere.
Chrissy, you of all people should have read the fine print. When you donned the munuvian robes and drank the infamous koolaid, you sealed the deal. Welcome to the cyber equivalent of the Hotel California.
See you tomorrow. Cheer up, it is a lovely place.
(Yeah, I'll have a look a Shoe's denial post. Meanwhile, when you aren't bombarded with call, let me know. Would love to chat.)
Posted by: Key at August 8, 2005 06:33 PMIf my brain was an Etch-A-Sketch I would be shaking my head right about now to erase these words from it! This just can't be true!
Posted by: Joan at August 8, 2005 06:47 PMAw, man.
Just when I start to find some good reads.
I understand that you need time IRL, though. Good luck and at least try to stay in touch. :)
Posted by: Karen at August 8, 2005 06:53 PMI was saddened to read of your intent ot leave. I have enjoyed your blogging every day. You have a wonderful story telling ability that brings the readers along, and puts them right there with you. It's as if we were there when it happened.
Your children, your mother...your stories of memories. Everything else.
Bless you and yours. I hope, that perhaps, you will come bak one day when and if you are ready. It is, of course, completely your decision, and I will support you in any way I can. Just know, we will miss you.
Posted by: Moogie at August 8, 2005 06:58 PMCount me among the many hoping that this is just a hiatus - however long you may need it to be - and that you will return when you have something that is just dying to be said. I do so hate it when bloggers quit and actually stick with it. :P
You will be missed, Christina. I'll keep you on the blogroll and in my RSS reader just in case you change your mind at some point in the future.
Posted by: songstress7 at August 8, 2005 08:09 PMOookay. I'd just echo much of what's been written already, but, well, you've read it already.
Just one thing, young lady. Do. Not. Delete. The. Blog. I haven't visited on a regular basis and I'd at least like to have your archived posts that I missed the first time to peruse on those rainy days when I want to read some feisty repartee, 'kay? 'KAY?!!
May the wind be at your back.
Posted by: Tuning Spork at August 8, 2005 08:29 PMPlease, please, PLEASE: Take a break if you must, but please do not abandon your legions. Slow down. enjoy life. Post when you feel the desire, not when you feel the rsponsibility. We'll be here waiting!
I hope you can make the fall blogfest (once we get it organized). You already paid....
I have enjoyed sharing many of your stories with MyLovelyWife. Thanks for all the fun.
God Bless!

Posted by: Catfish at August 8, 2005 09:29 PMAwww, damn. Real life claims another blogger? I hold out hope that whatever it is, it'll straighten itself out soon. Good luck.
Posted by: Chablis at August 8, 2005 10:15 PMNothing lasts forever, but cryptic goodbyes, well, damned if I know what they are all about.
While I did, several times in yesteryear, leave a few damsels thinking it was distress they were experiencing when I left with an unexplained goodbye, not one of them left me a parting message like your fellow readers have.
Must be the difference between a guy thing and a girl thing.
Be safe and thanks for sharing for a while.

Posted by: shoe at August 9, 2005 12:35 AMSay it ain't so, Christina! You are my morning wake-up each day as I sit at my desk with my bottle of Coca-Cola and struggle to keep my eyes open. Mornings won't be the same and neither will the blogsphere. :( You will be missed.

Posted by: silk at August 9, 2005 03:25 AMI can understand the 'reality' part of the post since my posting has been rather sparse lately. Sometimes life gets so busy there isn't time for everything. Hopefully you won't completely give up your blog!!!
Posted by: Michele at August 9, 2005 03:54 AMCan I still call? Email? Chat? Ask for help? Can I? Huh?
Posted by: Oddybobo at August 9, 2005 07:31 AMI hope this is not permanent, Christina. I have enjoyed your delightful stories for several months now and will miss your warmth and humor.
My thoughts and prayers are with you!
Please come back someday!
Just checking back in to see if you've changed your mind yet. I figure its been about a day and you are probably getting close to totally crazy now. Ok, so maybe its just too early to ask you. Just remember, no one will tease you if you change your mind. Don't feel like you can't just pick it right back up again.
How about now?
Have you changed your mind now?

Posted by: Wittysexkitten at August 9, 2005 09:35 AMHEY! Is this some kind of subtle attempt to get me to write your eulogy on my blog?
When you have family, of course, blogs are only window dressing, and sometimes the walls need painting and the furniture replaced.
Best wishes! And why not just say, you'll check in occasionally and say hi, or blog a story.
Just askin'.
Posted by: WitNit at August 9, 2005 11:04 AMChristina,

Take care and don't be a stranger.
Posted by: Phoenix at August 9, 2005 11:07 AMCat - She's still pissed about you not coming to Nawlins. She hasn't recovered. Neither has Susan. Christina - This is a joke right? Some Louisiana version of April Fools, right?
Posted by: Denny at August 9, 2005 11:49 AMWhile I am selfish enough to hope you come back, allow me to simply wish you the best in all you do.

Posted by: Jay at August 9, 2005 01:35 PMOkay, if the "reality" is a break in which to write a novel, then I can't wait! Otherwise I'll miss you a lot and I hope that everyone and everything in your personal life are fine, just in need of your attention. Post every once in a while to let us know how things are going. I'm sure you could post a "something" weekly - just a little story once in a while? Please?
Posted by: Momotrips at August 9, 2005 04:14 PMNo more blog noir......sigh.

Posted by: pam at August 9, 2005 04:57 PMChristina. I shall miss your writings. For me they were an interesting diversion from my own "reality". Michele and I enjoyed meeting you at the Wreckyll on Jekyll. You are an interesting woman with an interesting life. Enjoy it!
Posted by: Kevin at August 9, 2005 06:46 PMJust as I was getting used to this whole blog world...you are leaving it. Do you think that we will get invited to the next blogmeet?

Posted by: Susan at August 9, 2005 06:48 PMOh my. I don't know quite what to say. I hope whatever is going on goes well for you and yours.

Posted by: ZiPpo, Imperial Privateer at August 11, 2005 07:02 AMOkay to anyone reading this suggest you head over to my blog (simplistic in content and verse it maybe) I have an idea have just read the comments left after mine.
Posted by: Gopher at August 11, 2005 01:40 PMI'm speechless! There are bloggers who are more prolific. There are bloggers that have more impressive sitemeter counts. But you can tell from these comments that your importance to the blogosphere derives from the fact that you are the glue that holds so many disparate personalities together. No one combines ladylike southern charm, feistiness, intelligence and common sense, organizational skills and the desire to ameliorate and refine the sometimes vulgar tendencies of some bloggers. Feisty Repartee is an oasis in a sea of chaos. You are the probably the most normal blogger that I read but you still manage to be funny and provocative. I am not half the blogger you are but recently I was given a hint that in order for future career advancement, I should refrain from putting my thoughts out in cyberspace. One of the reasons I declined was that blogging allowed me to meet people like you that have truly enriched my world and that was worth more to me than money or position. God Bless you and your family. I'm not telling you to reconsider-that's your decision alone-just don't slam the door on it forever. Till we hoist a Shiner Bock with you at Gruene Hall-we love you always!
Posted by: David Spence at August 11, 2005 02:16 PMI guess, for the record, I must comment, or else you'll never know.... how much I, just another among many, enjoyed your blog. I'm sure you have a plan up your sleeve.
You'll be missed. You are an extraordinary person and I wish you well. And thank you for sharing so much.
Posted by: Lolly at August 11, 2005 02:33 PMChristina, Your decision is your decision. All I want to say is I've found your site to be creative and fun.
