Dreams
Have you ever made a major life decision then began having a series of dreams revolving around what life would have been had another decision been made?
Are the dreams an indication of faulty choice or an error in judgment?

I've had that happen before. I finally came to the conclusion that I'd made the best possible choice and that, no matter how much natural skill, I simply wasn't meant to be a rodeo clown. The dreams ceased after I stopped eating burritos shortly before bedtime.
Posted by: zonker at August 3, 2005 07:57 AMI think the dreams are just fantasies to keep you guessing. Because we all know that life would not have turned out that way, and we can be content in our choices and decisions.
I often wonder what my life would be like had I not gone to law school. hmmm, I made the wrong choice didn't I? *walks away shaking head*
Posted by: Oddybobo at August 3, 2005 08:32 AMOddybobbo nailed it. Oh, and don't go to law school.
Zonker has some freak-ass dreams.
Posted by: sadie at August 3, 2005 09:36 AMI agree. You're dreams about this decision are because it's something you've been thinking hard about. They don't mean you've made a faulty choice or an error in judgment.
Posted by: Pammy at August 3, 2005 10:50 AMFascinating question. I want to go away and think about it for a little while and then either post a comment or do an entry in response on my own blog.
Posted by: RP at August 3, 2005 11:37 AMIt's just like when you buy a new car. Invariably after buying a car I begin to see more and more of the exact same model usually the same color too. Just hieghtened awareness.
Posted by: bob at August 3, 2005 02:20 PMDreams come from our sub-conscious and, as Pammy said, if you've been thinking about something then it's going to appear in a dream.
With any major life decision you're always going to wonder about what life would have been like had you made another choice, so your sub-conscious is just playing out those thoughts.
Your dreams sound perfectly natural, just try not to read too much into them..
Posted by: Nugget at August 3, 2005 02:30 PMDreams are a reflection of our hopes and fears. As such they can sometimes be predictive. What's most important is "Making That Decision" and not worrying or looking back. Those who refuse to make decisions suffer most in life.
Have fun!
Posted by: ed at August 3, 2005 03:39 PMYour dreams are nothing more than your brain trying the what-ifs on for size. If you're dreaming about this situation all the time, then it probably means that YOU aren't comfortable with the decision you made, not that it's wrong or dangerous. My $.02, anyway. :)
Want to talk, you know where to call, honey. Any time!
Posted by: kelley at August 3, 2005 03:55 PMYes. But I find it is my brain processing...
I have dreams of an old boyfriend sometimes. I feel like I can smell his cologne. I awaken wondering what he is doing now... but when I look at the entire relationship we had, I know that I was right to break it off. But I still dream about him after 17 years. Odd.
Posted by: Boudicca at August 3, 2005 06:04 PMNah.
Just your sub-conscious playing with "what-ifs" in it's own bizarre way.
Think of dreams as your own, personally generated Rorschach game.
